Here are few images from another fun session that Juile and I had at the studio. Hoping to get some good, consistent weather so we can venture outside soon.

You may recognize Lora from some of my Budo Fight pictures, she is one of the ring girls for the event. Lora and I had been trying to get together to shoot for quite some time, she had torn her ACL and was doing rehab and getting back it shape from the time off. She kept telling my she wasn’t as flexible as she used to be, but as you can see below, I had a hard time believing that.

Lora had wanted to do some sports modeling and we decided also to do some more glam work. After we got done in the studio,we went outside and let her climb around some of discarded metal in the area.

Special thanks go out to Lora’s beau for standing in as my VALS (Voice Activated Light Stand) while we were shooting outside.

enjoy.

This just hurts me looking at it.

Ok catching up on some posts this week.

I recently had a fabulous session Julie here at the studio.  This was the first modeling shoot that Julie had ever done and I have to say the camera liked her.

Here are a few shots from our session.

enjoy.

Kind of a young Meryl Streep look.

Artists get inspiration in many different ways, sometimes it’s a place, sometimes a color, sometimes it’s a person. I was surfing the web a while back and came across a project that the the great photographer Douglass Kirkland had done for Vanity Fair Italia to celebrate the magazines 50th anniversary. Kirkland did “remakes” of 25 famous scenes taken from Italian cinematic classics, with well-known contemporary Italian actors playing the legends of the past.

One picture that struck me in particular was Kirkland’s remake of La Ragazza con la Valiglia 1960 (Girl with Suitcase) by director Valeri Zurlini (photo seen to right). I liked starkness of the scene and the look of simplicity with the lighting.

The idea to do an updated version had been rattling around my head for a while. I had a session scheduled to shoot with a versatile model I had worked with before, Crystal,  and after talking about it a bit we figured we’d give it a shot. I decided to use the railroad tracks close to the studio and update the look to a 60-mod feel, maintaining the stark backgrounds and simple lighting, but keeping the idea of a young ladies departure as  consistent theme. Crystal had a great dress and borrow the vintage suitcases from her father, both of which worked perfectly for the “updated” look I was going for. We were racing an incoming rain shower, which actually really worked well for the atmosphere for the shoot.  Below are the results of the session, which I was very happy with….thanks again Crystal, as always great working with you, looking forward to another session!

It’s been a while since I posted last, been out shooting and processing, but now I am catching up on this side of things. I have several new shoots to post that I’ll be working on in the coming days.

So with out further adieu here we go…

I again had the good fortune to work with the very versatile model Crystal to do some work for her modeling portfolio (you may remember some of the work we did together earlier, you can see it here). It’s always fun to work with Crystal, she brings great energy and spirit to our sessions. We did a couple of shoots this day (one conceptual session that I’ll post later). Here are some shots from the other, a more straight forward fashion-oriented shoot that we did at the studio.

Enjoy
