Well here’s the second installment from my whirlwind photo trip to Portland last weekend. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go out to the bike race on my way back home. While the new camera is killer, I am going to have to get some more practice with it…bummer guess that mean I’ll just have to shoot some more racing ;)   Hope you enjoy -t-

For those of you who don’t know what Cyclocross (CX) is…well your missing out. It’s a cross between mtn. biking, road biking, hill running…and at this time of the year in Bend smoke inhalation (or more preciously dust inhalation.)  This year cyclocross nationals are going to be held in Bend and the cycling community and many not in the cycling community are very excited for it to be coming.

One of the local bike shops puts on a early season (early for cross) weeknight series. Which is routinely attended by all the best local cross racers and some of the best in Oregon and the country (including Olympians, current and former national team rider as well as the current national champion Ryan Trebon). For some it’s way to get ready for the upcoming cross season, for others it’s an excuse to go out and get really, really dirty and for others it’s a good excuse to go shoot some pictures (although every time I go I think to myself, “I think I’d rather be racing than shooting”, but alas.)

Below are some pictures from tonight’s race hope you enjoy -t-

If you are interested in purchasing any of these photos just write which one(s) you are interested in in the comments box below and I’ll get back to you.

After we finished shooting our Friday “Assignment” (see Week 3- Circle and…),  Byron and I headed to a spot he knows to do some bouldering. I had never shot any climbing picture but alway thought it would be fun. Now that I’ve tried it, I think I’ll do some more. Byron and I discussed roping me to a tree next time so I can hang over the side, sounds like fun to me! Enjoy -t-

Well this week was a little bit busy and I didn’t get out on Friday to shoot. First off we went to Portland as my oldest daughter was scheduled for surgery. Last Sunday drove up and went to the Portland museum of art (where they don’t all allow photos inside). Monday morning bright and shiny we checked into the hospital and got ready for her surgery (everything went great and she is recovering nicely). We were at the hospital until Thursday morning and then drove back to Bend. Most of the day Friday was spent catching up on work. Friday night I went to the NWX crit and shot a few frames with my business partners camera, I’ll see if there’s any in there to post once she gets them processed.

I was scheduled to shoot a fund-raiser event at the Tetherow golf club in Bend for my event company (Cascade Event Photography) on Sat. The event featured Steve Williams, Tiger Woods caddy, so I figured I show some shots from that. Steve is the typical Kiwi, very down to earth and totally affable, made me want to go down an visit NZ again. I’ll be back on track this Friday.  Enjoy -t-

I figured since I’m not ready to be out racing myself yet this year, I’d go shoot some of my friends who are.

I decided instead of getting the typical face shots, I’d focus on showing the motion involved in bike racing (and a little pain). I didn’t shoot a bunch, but here’s some I hope you enjoy. -t-

I’ve picked the topic for this Friday’s too, texture @ the Mill District
